Ernst Tams

Ernst Tams (born January 24, 1882 in Hamburg , † November 16, 1963 in Hamburg) was a German geophysicist and head of the main station for earthquake research at the University of Hamburg .

Live and act

During his studies Tams was in 1900 a member of the Black Castle Bund - connection Burschenschaft Germania Göttingen . Tams became an assistant at the Hamburg State Physical Laboratory in 1908 and offered lectures on geophysics from 1911. In 1932 he became ao. Professor of Seismology and 1939 adjunct professor in Hamburg. Since April 1933 he was a member of the NSDAP and in November 1933 signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler at German universities and colleges . In 1946 he retired.
