Former location of the Ernstburg

The Ernstburg was a Countess-Stolberg hunting lodge on the Sandtalskopf in the Ilsenburg Forest, west above the Ilsetal . Similar to the still existing Plessenburg , it was used by the Counts of Stolberg-Wernigerode for hunting purposes . It was built in the 18th century and was named in honor of the cathedral dean Ernst Ludwig Christoph von Spiegel in Halberstadt . The building was demolished in the 19th century due to its dilapidation.
