Eros Puglielli (born May 17, 1973 in Rome ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

In 1993 the videographer Puglielli presented a self-staged film draft, Dorme , with which he found a producer at the Bellaria Festival , with whose support he completed the work in stages over the years up to 1999. Nevertheless, during this time he studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (1994–1996) and made various short films, mostly works related to the macabre and grotesque, as well as several video clips and advertising films. Important filmmakers such as Nanni Moretti and Andrea Occhipinti became his sponsors. In 2001 Puglielli's second film followed, the grotesque Tutto la conoscienza del mondo . However, the film shown at the Berlinale hardly received any attention in Italy. Even his next film, Giallo Occhi di cristallo , was not able to meet the high expectations of the director and screenwriter, who was celebrated as a child prodigy , despite the excellent presentation by Luigi Lo Cascio and an effective market launch. He became a victim of the paradoxical Italian film criticism, complaining about the lack of creativity and originality, but rejected screen experiments like the Pugliellis, whose imagery was described as "comics drawn with a video camera".

Since then, Puglielli has tried his hand at television and shot a. a. with Claudio Amendola and Claudia Gerini in the leading roles in the crime film 48 ore , in 2007 the supernatural multi-part thriller Zodiaco . In 2011 and 2013 he directed the television miniseries Vido d'angelo resp. Baciamo le mani: Palermo-New York 1958 . In 2012, his amateur debut, Dorme , was shown in theaters.
