Initial instruction
During the initial training , new employees are informed about various safety-relevant aspects of their work environment. The Occupational Safety and Health Act Section 7, Paragraph 2, the Accident Prevention Regulation DGUV Regulation 1 “General principles of prevention” and other regulations oblige the employer to adequately and appropriately instruct his employees about safety and health protection at work.
The initial instruction is divided into a general part :
- Names of the first responders
- Place (s) of the first aid kit
- Addresses of the physicians in transit
- Definition of accidents at work and commuting accidents
- Affiliation with the professional association
- Explanation of the rescue, prohibition, mandatory and fire protection signs
- Obligation to report occupational accidents
- Location (s) and function of the fire extinguishers and fire protection equipment
- Behavior in case of fire
- etc.
and a job-related part :
- Dangers at the respective workplace
- Safety devices
- behaviour rules
- Behavior in emergency situations
- etc.
The implementation of the instruction must be documented and archived:
- Date of instruction,
- Content (s) of the instruction,
- Type of instruction and name of instructor,
- Name and signature of the instructed person (s).
