Erwin Gruber

Erwin Gruber (born May 5, 1964 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Gruber since 1998 mayor in gases . From 2002 to 2015 he was a member of the Styrian state parliament .

After primary school in Gasen, Gruber attended secondary school in Birkfeld , where he also completed the polytechnical course. After graduating from the Hafendorf technical college for forestry and agriculture , he passed the forestry master's exam and subsequently worked as a farmer.

politics

In 1984 Gruber was a founding member of the rural youth local group Gasen, which he chaired between 1986 and 1988 as chairman. Afterwards he held the function of the district sports officer of the rural youth between 1987 and 1989 and was elected to the Gasen municipal council in 1990. After he had already been deputy mayor from 1995 to 1998, he took over the office of mayor in 1998 and was elected within the party in 2000 as deputy district party chairman of the ÖVP in the district of Weiz . Furthermore, from 2001 to 2003 he was chamber chairman of the district chamber for agriculture and forestry Weiz and has held the office of farmers' union chairman in the district of Weiz since 2002. Gruber came on March 25, 2003 as the successor to Reinhold Lopatka in the Styrian state parliament. There he was division spokesman for traffic and folk culture. He himself names agriculture and forestry as his political priorities.
