Erwin Hubert (* 1883 in Vienna ; † 1963 in Palma ) was an Austrian painter.

Life

Hubert moved to the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca and took on the role of secretary to Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria-Tuscany . During the First World War he returned to Vienna and worked for the Oesterreichische Nationalbank . In 1920 he moved back to Mallorca, where he lived and worked until the end of his life, except for the period of the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939.

Hubert painted watercolors . He used the landscape of Mallorca as a motif, which he depicted in an idealized manner. In the 1930s, his works were distributed on posters, postcards, brochures and other tourist advertising for Mallorca in Europe and thus shaped the image of the island.
