Erwin Müller-Ruckwitt (born August 26, 1943 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German adult educator and Catholic media expert.

Life

After studying theology, history and philosophy in Bonn and Mainz, Erwin Müller-Ruckwitt became a lecturer at the Thomas-More-Academy in Bensberg in 1973 . In 1975 he took over the management of the Education Department in the Vicariate General of the Archdiocese of Cologne , and from 1992 to 2008 he was director of the Education and Media Department at the Archdiocese of Cologne.

During this time, the bundling, nationwide expansion and qualification of adult education in the largest German archdiocese took place. Müller-Ruckwitt played a key role in the founding of the Archdiocese of Cologne eV , whose chairman he was from 1991 to 1995, the establishment of the Cologne Cathedral radio and the expansion of the conference centers and educational houses of the Archdiocese.

Erwin Müller-Ruckwitt was involved in a variety of ways beyond the area of ​​the Archdiocese of Cologne. From 1986 to 2005 he was chairman of the state working group for catholic adult education in North Rhine-Westphalia, from 1987 to 2000 he was chairman of the catholic federal working group for adult education . As a representative of the Archdiocese of Cologne, he was chairman of the supervisory board of the weekly newspaper Rheinischer Merkur and was a member of the State Agency for Media in North Rhine-Westphalia for the five NRW dioceses , where he headed the committee for research and media literacy. He is married, has two grown children and lives in Bergisch Gladbach .
