Erwin Schmidt (local history researcher)

Erwin Schmidt (born July 20, 1886 in Weilburg ; † August 31, 1956 there ) was a German homeland researcher. He made several contributions to the history of Nassau and the Weilburger Land.

Schmidt came as the son of the businessman Friedrich Schmidt and his wife Katharina, nee. Seelbach, to the world. Between 1897 and 1903 he attended grammar school in Weilburg. From 1916 he was first employed as a court secretary and from 1922 as a judicial inspector at the court in Hachenburg . In 1927 he moved to Frankfurt am Main , where he was promoted to Chief Justice Inspector in 1942.

After retiring, he spent his old age in his native Weilburg.
