Erwin Wilkens
Erwin Wilkens (born July 11, 1914 in Lingen (Ems) , † January 28, 2000 ) was a German Protestant theologian.
Career
After graduating from high school in 1933 at the Georgianum grammar school in Lingen (Ems) , Wilkens studied Protestant theology in Münster, Tübingen and Göttingen. During the Second World War he served in the army, most recently as an officer in the general staff of the army. After the end of the war he worked as a pastor for a few years. From 1951 he worked for the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD). In 1964 he became an employee of the EKD church chancellery and in 1974 its vice-president.
He was in 1965 one of the authors of Ostdenkschrift the EKD.
