Erysichton
Erysichthon (Greek Ἐρυσίχθων ('der Erdaufreißer'), from ερύω ('stir up, tear open') and χθών ('land, earth')) is the name of two characters in Greek mythology:
- Erysichthon (Thessaly) , son of Triopas and king in Thessaly.
- Erysichthon (Athens) , son of Kekrops and Aglauros .
The butterfly genus Erysichthon is named after this :
- Erysichton lineata , a butterfly of the family of Gossamer (Lycaenidae).
- Erysichton palmyra , which was recently added to the genus Jameela and has the name Jameela palmyra .
