The ore raven ( Corvus crassirostris ) is a species of corvidae that is native to East African mountain regions . Together with the common raven, it is the largest songbird (60–64 cm in length).
Appearance
The horn attachment on the beak, which makes it appear particularly thick, is unmistakable. The beak has a white point on the tip. Except for another white spot on the back of the head up to the neck, the ore raven is completely black-feathered.
distribution
The distribution area of the ore raven is in Ethiopia and Eritrea , it also occurs occasionally in Sudan and Somalia .
habitat
The habitat of the Erzraben extends over the mountains and high plateaus between 1,500 and 2,400 m, rarely up to a maximum of 4,000 m above sea level. N. N.
Food and subsistence
As an omnivore, the ore raven feeds on caterpillars and other insect larvae (including from cattle dung), carrion , slaughterhouse and other waste and has also been observed eating wheat in the field.
behavior
The arch raven nests in trees and on cliffs and builds its nests with sticks. It lays three to five eggs, which were found between December and February.
