Escalos de Baixo is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Castelo Branco . The community had 749 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the communities Escalos de Baixo and Mata were merged to form the new community União das Freguesias de Escalos de Baixo e Mata . Escalos de Baixo is the seat of this newly formed municipality.
