family
Andreas Eschenbrender came from a patrician family who lived in the so-called Eschenbrender Hof (today Rheinhotel Schulz ) in Unkel. The members of the family administered the property of the St. Maria ad Gradus monastery in Cologne.
Life
The doctor of law was appointed Cologne official on May 10, 1690 at the suggestion of the Prime Minister of the Electorate of Cologne, Johann Friedrich Karg von Bebenburg . The power-hungry and headstrong man soon showed himself to be an irreconcilable opponent of Kargs, who now pursued his recall and reached it in 1696. At the same time canon in Cologne, he now became an opponent of the archbishop. In the meantime, Eschenbrender was raised to the nobility and was now called Andreas von Eschenbrender.
