The Eschweiler Filmpost (short: Filmpost) is a free, weekly advertising paper in Eschweiler and the oldest advertising paper still published in Germany.

The newspaper, financed by advertising revenue, appears every Wednesday. With a circulation of 30,170 copies, it is distributed to households in Eschweiler and Langerwehe. It will also be displayed at several selected locations in the communities of Stolberg , Langerwehe and Inden .

The first issue of the Filmpost appeared on November 29, 1931 with a circulation of 9,300 copies. The founder and publisher was the lawyer Wilhelm Deis.

In 1934 the paper was discontinued in the Third Reich. After the Second World War, the Eschweiler Filmpost appeared again from 1948, with a circulation of 12,000 copies under the direction of Dr. Wolfram Engelbrecht, son-in-law of founder Wilhelm Deis. At times a print run of up to 37,000 copies was achieved.

In the 1990s, Michael Engelbrecht, son of Dr. Wolfram Engelbrecht and today's editor, joins the management team. The editorial offer has since been expanded and has also been on the Internet since 2005.

On October 11, 2006, No. 41/2006, the anniversary edition for the 75th anniversary was published.

Content

The Eschweiler Filmpost consists to a large extent of advertisements and classified ads from the Eschweiler business world. In addition, the Eschweiler cinema program as well as reports on urban events in Eschweiler and letters to the editor are published.
