Essex Scott

Essex Scott (also Essix Scott and Lord Essex , * 1921 or 1922 in Oakland , † 1960 near Miami ) was an American rhythm & blues and jazz singer .

Scott was a band vocalist in the Earl Hines Orchestra in 1945/46 , with which he recorded in Chicago; he can be heard in titles such as “Nonchalant Man”, “Rosetta” and in the standard “ Margie ”, the latter together with the singer Dolores Parker . In 1954/55 he was a member of Charlie Fuquas Ink Spots , with which he recorded titles such as Back in Your Own Backyard and Darling, Don't Cry . Under the pseudonym Lord Essex he recorded a cover version of the Magidson - Wrubel title "Music, Maestro, Please" (King 4184) for King Records , with the B-side "There's a Gold Mine in the Sky". Tom Lord lists his involvement in four recording sessions between 1945 and 1957. Essex Scott died at the age of 38 after never returning from a boat trip on the Atlantic coast off Miami in 1960 .
