The Estádio General Sylvio Raulino de Oliveira - Raulino de Oliveira or Raulino for short - is a municipal football stadium in the Nossa Senhora das Graças district of the Brazilian city of Volta Redonda .
history
It is home to the local, lower-tier club Volta Redonda FC and is also used by Fênix 05 FC from nearby Barra Mansa . The stadium was used by Fluminense FC in 2005 to host almost all of its home games in the Brazilian premier league. Since then, clubs from Rio de Janeiro have continued to use the stadium infrequently for their home games. In recent years, for example, the Brazilian first division team has repeatedly moved to the stadium because the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange was rebuilt for the 2014 World Cup.
The stadium opened in 1951. In 1976 it was expropriated because the site belonged to the Brazilian mining company Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional . After modernization, it was reopened in the same year. The first game after that was a 3-2 Redondas against Botafogo FR . Since its renovation, which was completed in 2004, it has had around 20,000 seats. It has since been considered one of the most modern stadiums in Brazil. The grandstands along both straights are roofed on the upper tiers.
The stadium is named after a former head of the CSN, who was instrumental in the financing.
