history
The Estádio Mané Garrincha was part of a complex that offered numerous venues for sports such as gymnastics, judo and dancing. The stadium, built in 1974, had a capacity for 53,250 spectators, which was later limited to 45,200 seats for safety reasons. It was the property of the Ministry of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation of the Capital District . It was named after Mané Garrincha , one of the outstanding soccer players of the 20th century and two-time world champion, and was mainly used for soccer games. The attendance record dates back to December 20, 1998, when 51,000 spectators came to watch the 3-0 win of hosts SE Gama against Londrina EC from Paraná .
