The Estádio Municipal Eduardo José Farah is a stadium in the Brazilian city of Presidente Prudente . It has space for 44,414 spectators and was the home of the Grêmio Prudente association from 2010 to May 2011.
history
The Estádio Municipal Eduardo José Farah was built in 1982 and opened on October 12th of the same year. For the first game in the new stadium, EC Corinthians from Presidente Prudente and FC Santos met for a friendly game, which FC Santos won 1-0. In this game, Santos player Paulinho scored the first goal in the new stadium.
For a long time the Estádio Municipal Eduardo José Farah was made up of Presidente Prudente by some regional clubs for football games in the lower divisions of Brazil and for games in the championships in the state of São Paulo . In 2010, the Grêmio Barueri association moved to Presidente Prudente because Barueri did not get any support from the city council. Since the first division season in 2010, the club has used the Estádio Municipal Eduardo José Farah as a venue for home games. Previously, the club played in the Arena Barueri .
The Estádio Municipal Eduardo José Farah seats 44,414 spectators. At the time of construction in the early 1980s, the maximum capacity was 20,000 spectators. In 2001 the stadium's capacity increased to 50,000 as part of a renovation. The capacity was later reduced to the current 44,414 spectators. The spectator record in the stadium dates from March 3, 1996, when 45,972 spectators attended a game between Palmeiras and Corinthians São Paulo as part of the São Paulo State Cup .
