The Estádio da Machava is a multi-purpose stadium in Machava, a district of the South Mozambican port city of Matola . It is mostly used for soccer games and seats 45,000 people.

The Portuguese colonial administration of Mozambique had the sports facility built in 1968. It was named after the Portuguese dictator and Prime Minister António de Oliveira Salazar , who had to resign from office in 1968 due to health problems. After Mozambique's independence, the stadium was renamed.

The opening game played on June 30, 1968 Portugal and Brazil ; the visiting team won 2-0.

Today the facility belongs to the Clube Ferroviário de Maputo sports club .

On June 16, 2013 Mozambique played a qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup against Egypt in the Estádio da Machava.
