Esther Orozco

Maria Esther Orozco Orozco (born April 25, 1945 in Guerrero , Chihuahua , Mexico ) is a Mexican biologist , researcher and politician.

Life

Orozco received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua and a master's degree and doctorate in cell biology from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav) in Mexico City . She worked at the Institute for Experimental Pathology of the same institution, which was co-founded by the Center for Scientific Research and Applied Technology, and was appointed Director of the newly created Institute for Science and Technology of the Federal District by Prime Minister Marcelo Ebrard on December 4, 2006 . She was Rector of the Autonomous University of Mexico City from April 21, 2010 to March 13, 2013 . As a visiting scholar, she has lectured at Harvard University and the Weizmann Institute of Science.
