Etudes (Scriabin)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scriabin's etudes are piano works by Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin . With the exception of the early C sharp minor piece, the 24 etudes were written between 1894 and 1912.

Opus 2, No. 1

At the age of 15 Scriabin wrote the full-sounding and forward-looking piece in C sharp minor .

Opus 8

Scriabin composed the twelve pieces in 1894 at the age of 23. You are a tribute to Frédéric Chopin . As the most substantial Russian studies, they are on par with Chopin's studies . More than with Chopin, the technical problems of playing are subordinated to the artistic and musical intentions. The sensuality, color and warmth of the studies are easy to “thunder”.

  • . # 1, C # major , 4 / 4 - Allegro
  • Nos. 2, F # minor , 4 / 4 - A capriccio, con forza : Mehrstimmige quintuplets and triols with wide basses

  • . No. 12, dis minor , 4 / 4 - Patetico : popular "thriller" wide triplets with octave leaps in the bass

Opus 42

The eight etudes were written in 1903. Nothing reminds of Chopin or Liszt anymore. Characteristic is the game with the second and seventh , which keeps the key suspended until the harmonic end. The complicated polyrhythmics , agogics and pedaling are artistic challenges of the first order. The sensual stimuli seduce amateurs , the technical virtuosos (No. 5).

  • Nos. 1, Des-Dur , 3 / 4 - Presto : Septimentriolen against expansive quintuplets, midsection in B major, B-major and A-major, "perhaps the most beautiful Skryabin Etude"
  • . # 2, F # minor , 2 / 4 - Quarter = 112 / Presto
  • Nos. 3, F-sharp major , 6 / 8 - Prestissimo : sixteenth triplets on each eighth, ppp !
  • . No. 4, F-sharp major , 2 / 4 - Andante cantabile
  • No. 5. C-sharp minor , 12 / 8 - Affanato : operatic drama
  • No. 6, D flat major , 3 / 4 - Esaltato : op exciting counterpart to Chopin 25.1.
  • . # 7, F Minor , 2 / 4 - Agitato
  • . No. 8 in E flat major , 4 / 4 - Allegro

Opus 65

Scriabin wrote the three incomparable etudes in 1911/12, a few years before his death. Full of dissonances and on the verge of atonality , they are of the purest beauty. The recordings by Igor Michailowitsch Schukow are just as incomparable .

  • Nos. 1, 12 / 16 / 6 / 16 / 6 / 8 - Allegro fantastico sized nonene
  • Nos. 2, 4 / 4 - Allegretto : large sevenths
  • Nos. 3, 2 / 4 - Molto vivace / impérieux : pure fifths
