Ethel Davis

Ethel Davis is a Liberian diplomat .

Life

She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Liberia . She later earned a Masters degree from George Washington University .

From 1981 to 1989 she was deputy manager for administration and then manager, from 1989 to 1995 general manager of the Agricultural & Cooperative Development Bank in Liberia. She was also Deputy Executive Director of the African Development Bank in Ivory Coast from 1992 to 1995 . In this bank she then worked from 1995 to 1998 as advisor to the executive director and from 1998 to 2001 as deputy executive director and advisor to the executive director. From 2001 to 2006 she was the Human Resources Manager of the Central Bank of Liberia , of which she was Deputy Governor from 2006 to 2009. Davis worked as a consultant in the Liberian State Department from 2009 to 2010.

In 2010 she became Liberia's ambassador to Germany . Additional accreditations existed in Denmark , Finland , Norway , Austria , and Sweden . In 2012 she also became the permanent representative of Liberia to the United Nations in Vienna .

During the Ebola virus epidemic from 2014 to 2016 , she went public as ambassador to Germany with appeals for help for the severely affected Liberia.

In 2018 she was appointed Liberian Ambassador to South Africa .
