Ethem Yilmaz

Ethem Yilmaz (* 1952 in Ankara ) is a Turkish-German textbook author, interpreter, editor and publisher in Bochum . He has been a German teacher for foreigners since the 1990s. He is also an integration trainer in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Live and act

After school and studies in his hometown Ankara, Yilmaz moved to Germany, where his father was already working as a worker. Thanks to his knowledge of German, he quickly became the point of contact for many Turkish families in order to support them when visiting authorities and doctors as well as looking for accommodation, going to school and kindergarten.

From these activities he developed phrasebooks for several languages, which he finally marketed after founding the Verlag für Kommunikation in Bochum. The publisher is now an institution for phrasebooks for the integration of host families and refugees.

Yilmaz has also been a member of a German Rotary Club and of Rotary International's Germany-Turkey International Country Committee for many years . For his international commitment he was awarded the Paul Harris Medal by Rotary International.

Yilmaz is married; the couple has two adult children.
