Eufemio Zapata
Eufemio Zapata Salazar (* 1873 in Anenecuilco, Morelos State , Mexico ; † June 17, 1917 in Cuautla , Morelos) was the older brother of the revolutionary leader and general Emiliano Zapata .
Life
In 1911, shortly after the start of the Mexican Revolution , he joined his brother's armed uprising against the regime of Porfirio Díaz . As a general in the Revolutionary Army , he carried out numerous military operations in Morelos and the neighboring states. He is one of the signatories of the Ayala Plan .
Described by contemporaries as a hot-headed character and not averse to alcohol, he was shot by a campaigner on June 17, 1917 (Womack speaks from June 18) following an argument in a cantina (Mexican bar ) in Cuautla.
