Eugène Joseph Bozza (born April 4, 1905 in Nice ; died September 28, 1991 in Valenciennes ) was a French composer .

Life

Eugène Bozza, son of an Italian, studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and graduated in violin in 1924, conducting in 1930 and composition in 1934 . Also in 1934 he won the prestigious Prix ​​de Rome with his cantata " Légende de Roukmani ". From 1939 to 1948 he was conductor at the Paris Opéra Comique, then director of the Valenciennes Conservatory until 1975. Bozza wrote numerous works for chamber music , especially for woodwinds .

Most chamber music works began in the mid-1950s, when Bozza became director of the Valenciennes Conservatory. In his work, impressions of the Provence landscape can be heard over and over again .
