Eugène Martin (painter)

Eugène Martin (born February 20, 1880 in Geneva ; † December 27, 1954 there ) was a Swiss painter .

Live and act

Eugène Martin was born in 1880 as the son of a bank clerk and the director of a haute couture house . Between 1898 and 1904 he was a stockbroker and then between 1906 and 1945 he was employed and later director of a fashion house.

Martin was close to Maurice Barraud and Alexandre Blanchet . From 1933 to 1944 he was President of the Geneva Section of the Society of Swiss Painters, Sculptors and Architects ; from 1944 to 1952 he was its central president. Martin was also a member of the artist group « Le Falot ».
