Eugene Amandus Black

Eugene Amandus Schwarz (born April 21, 1844 in Liegnitz , Silesia , † October 15, 1928 ) was an American entomologist of German origin whose main interest was beetles . He influenced a large number of American entomologists, for example Herbert Spencer Barber .

Schwarz first studied entomology in Europe and then from 1872 under Hermann August Hagen at Harvard University . His interesting correspondence and the scientifically valuable records are kept in the Smithsonian Institution Archives.
