Eugenio Bruni , also Eugène Bruni (born February 4, 1884 in Boulogne sur Seine , † October 12, 1956 in Nanterre ) was an Italian - French cyclist .

Eugenio Bruni was born in France as one of 13 children to an Italian family who came from Bardi . He was a professional racing driver from 1901 to 1919. In 1901 he was third in the French standing championship and vice-world champion in the same discipline at the UCI track world championships in 1908 in Steglitz . In 1902 he drove together with Lucien Louvet the first two-man team event in France in a six-hour race on the Buffalo Velodrome in Paris . After the fatal fall of the cyclist Harry Elkes in 1903, Bruni was one of the first racing drivers to wear a crash cap that he had developed himself.

On the occasion of the First World War , it turned out that Bruni's nationality was unclear because he was asked to do military service by both Italy and France. Finally, he fought on the French side as a soldier, but this did not prevent him from participating in Italian standing championships and also setting an Italian record. He also started for Italy in the 1908 World Railroad Championships.
