Career

Baills began playing football in his hometown of Perpignan, but moved to Montpellier HSC early on . Since the 1983/84 season he played for Montpellier in the second division and was able to establish himself there quickly. While he came in his first season on twelve missions, in the second year it was already 27. In 1987 he was promoted to the first division. In the following season , the team reached third place in the first division, Baills played 35 times that season. The successful team also included players like Laurent Blanc , Abdelkader Ferhaoui and Carlos Valderrama . Third place qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup next season. In 1990, the team managed to win the French Cup by beating Racing Paris 2-1 in the final . On March 30, 1991 Baills was used in the national team. In a qualifying game against Albania for the European Championship in 1992 , he was substituted on in the 56th minute. In the same year he moved to Olympique Marseille , the reigning French champion. There it turned out, however, that he was not up to the competition, consisting of Jocelyn Angloma . He became a reservist and left Marseille after only one season. In this way he came to a use in the Champions League , he also became French champion with Marseille in 1992. Also because his coach called him chose (French for cause), he decided to move to Racing Strasbourg . After three years in Alsace , he returned to his home club, Marseille, in 1995. The golden times were over there and the club was fighting to stay in the top division. In his last season, Baills was rarely used and was plagued by injuries. In 2000 he decided to end his career. Baills played a total of 385 games in the first division and scored nine goals. In 2007 he was an interim coach in Montpellier after Jean-François Domergue was dismissed . From 2002 to 2003 he had already been assistant coach, which he was again in 2009.
