Jocelyn Gaétan Angloma (born August 7, 1965 in Les Abymes , Guadeloupe ) is a former French football player .
He is currently the assistant coach of the Guadeloupe football team .
Career
In the club
In his youth, the defender played for Étoile Morne-à-l'Eau in Guadeloupe. Here he was discovered by scouts from Stade Rennes ; In 1985 he signed a professional contract in Rennes . After three years he turned his back on Rennes and moved to Lille OSC , where he became a regular player. Due to his consistently good performance, he recommended himself to the top clubs. In 1990 Angloma went to Paris Saint-Germain , in the same year he became a national player . However, in Paris he was not happy, although he played frequently. That is why he moved to Olympique Marseille after just one season . With l'OM , Angloma became French champions in 1992 and Champions League winner the following year .
Jocelyn Angloma stayed in Marseille until 1994. He then went to Italy to Torino Calcio , which he left in 1996 for Inter Milan . With the Nerazzurri he reached the 1997 UEFA Cup final , which, however, was lost to FC Schalke 04 .
After a year in Milan, the defender, who can be used both as a central defender and a right full-back, was offered an offer by Spanish first division club Valencia , for whom he played 120 games by the end of his career in 2002. 1999 won Angloma with Los Ches the Copa del Rey and in 2002 Spanish champion . Both in 2000 , and in 2001 he reached with FC Valencia, the final UEFA Champions League . However, they lost it in 2000 to Real Madrid and in 2001 to FC Bayern Munich .
In July 2003 Angloma returned from his interim retirement and joined his hometown club Étoile Morne-à-l'Eau, where he finally ended his career in 2007.
In the national team
Jocelyn Angloma has played in various junior national teams since moving to France. With France's U-21 team, he became European champion in 1988.
Angloma was appointed to the French senior national team for the first time after moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 1990 and was one of the squads for the 1992 European Championship and the 1996 European Championship . He played a total of 37 games for Les Bleus and scored once before retiring from the national team after the European Championship in 1996.
In 2006 Angloma decided to play for Guadeloupe . This was possible because the Guadeloupe football team is a member of the CONCACAF regional association , but not a member of FIFA . With the selection he qualified for the Caribbean Nations Cup 2007 . The team finished fourth behind Cuba , Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti , who won this competition for the first time, and qualified directly for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA . Angloma was also nominated for the squad of the Gold Cup; there his team shared third place with Canada .
