Euglypha acanthophora is a freshwater shell amoeba that belongs to the Cercozoa group.
Their shell consists of round to oval flakes of pebbles that overlap with the edges. The mouth of the bowl is round and surrounded by serrated scales, rarely spiked scales. The shell amoeba are 60 to 100 micrometers long. They occur in wet moss, in peat moss, in ponds, springs and swamps in Central Europe.
