The Euglyphida are a taxon of unicellular eukaryotes that belong to the Cercozoa . They are amoebas with pods .
features
The representatives feed heterotrophically . The cell is located in a shell made of silicate flakes that overlap like roof tiles. The scales are connected by an organic cement.
Systematics
The Euglyphida, together with the Thaumatomonadida, belong to the group of Silicofilosea . They are used by Adl et al. divided into four families according to morphological characteristics:
- Euglyphidae : The scales are thin and round to elliptical.
- Trinematidae : The shell is bilaterally symmetrical . The opening is inverted in some representatives.
- Cyphoderiidae : scales circular to oval. The bowl opening is angled, sometimes with a collar.
- Paulinellidae : The scales are elongated, with the long axis at right angles to the opening of the shell. They have cyanelles .
- incertae sedis
