Eucratideia

Eukratideia was a city in ancient Bactria (in what is now northern Afghanistan ; Hindu Kush ). It is mentioned by a few ancient authors and was perhaps a foundation of Eukratides I (around 171 to 145 BC), whereby city renaming was common in ancient times, so that an already existing city might only be renamed by Eukratides I. has been. So far it has not been possible to locate the site with certainty, although the ruins of Ai Khanoum have been suggested. Dilbarjin was also identified with this city.
