The anacondas ( Eunectes ) are a genus of snakes from the boas family . They are ovoviviparous and live in much of South America .
Systematics
Today the genus includes four species:
- Great anaconda ( Eunectes murinus )
- Yellow anaconda ( Eunectes notaeus )
- Beni anaconda ( Eunectes beniensis )
- De Schauensees anaconda ( Eunectes deschauenseei )
Anacondas live semi-aquatic, i.e. H. they are mostly to be found in marshland or streams and rivers. In Brazil they are widespread all over the country, where they can be found in large cities (e.g. São Paulo). Their prey consists of rodents, birds, smaller turtles, capybaras and caimans up to medium size. Fish and armored catfish also make up a large proportion of their diet.
