Euphorbia ambovombensis is a species of the genus Spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of the Spurge Family(Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia ambovombensis grows as a very small shrub from a tuberous root that is about 4 centimeters wide and 1 centimeter long. The few, about 4 millimeters thick shoots arise from a base and are 10 to 20 centimeters long. The lanceolate leaves are in terminal rosettes on the shoots and are up to 5 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters wide. They are fleshy, dark green in color and are shed at the end of the growing season. The edge of the sheet is wavy. The stipules are split into short bristles.

Flower detail

The inflorescence consists of a few cymes , which are forked 2 to 3 times and stand on long peduncle. The rounded and nodding cyathophylls are 3 millimeters long and 5 millimeters wide and are light rusty yellow in color. The cyathium becomes 5 millimeters in size. The nectar glands are yellow and the sessile ovary is bluntly lobed.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia ambovombensis is endemic to the south of Madagascar .

The species was first described in 1987 by Werner Rauh and Alfred Razafindratsira .
