The succulent Euphorbia ambroseae forms shrubs up to 2 meters high with sparsely branched main shoots up to 4 centimeters thick. The upright side branches are square and 1 to 2 centimeters wide. On the edges there are bulged teeth at a distance of 1 to 2.5 centimeters. The elongated thorn shields do not touch and have occasionally grown together to form a thin horn rim. Very small thorns and 1 to 2 millimeter long stipple spines are formed. The thick and short-lived leaves are up to 10 millimeters long and 9 millimeters wide.
The inflorescence consists of single and simple cymes , which stand on 1 millimeter long stems. The cyathia reach about 6 millimeters in diameter. The elongated nectar glands touch and are yellow in color. The approximately spherical fruit stands on a 1.5 millimeter long stem and is up to 3.5 millimeters long and 5 millimeters wide. The almost round seed is covered with goods and reaches about 2 millimeters in diameter.
