Euphorbia anoplia is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia anoplia forms small shrubs up to 18 centimeters in height that are dioecious and branch out from the base with a few shoots. These shoots, deeply furrowed between the 7 to 9 ribs, are up to 5 centimeters thick. Side shoots have only 5 ribs. On the edges of the ribs there are protruding warts at a distance of up to 6 millimeters from each other. This species lacks sterile flower stalks that have not been transformed into thorns.
Individual simple cymen are formed in the area of the shoot tips, but only the middle, almost sedentary, male cyathium develops. Bracts up to 4 millimeters in size and cyathia around 7 millimeters in size are formed. The elliptical nectar glands are colored purple. Nothing is known about the fruit and the seed.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia anoplia is only known from culture.
The species was first described in 1923 by Otto Stapf . A possible hybrid with unknown parents is suspected of the species.
