Euphorbia cannellii is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia cannellii forms shrubs up to 70 centimeters high, which can reach up to 3 meters in diameter due to their overgrown growth. The flat shoots are not very branched and clearly square. They are divided into uneven sections and have bulged teeth on the edges. The thorn shields have grown together to form a continuous horn rim. Thorns 5 to 12.5 millimeters long and very small stipple spines are formed.

The inflorescence usually consists of individual cyathia , which stand on stems about 2.5 millimeters long. They reach up to 6 millimeters in diameter. Five to six elongated nectar glands are formed, which stand individually. The bluntly lobed fruit is almost sessile and is about 4 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. It contains the spherical seed, which is about 2.4 millimeters in size and has a smooth surface.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia cannellii is common in Angola on rocky surfaces in loose woodlands.

The species was first described in 1974 by Leslie Charles Leach .
