Euphorbia cedrorum is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia cedrorum forms trees up to 3 meters high that are dioecious . The shoots are up to 1.5 centimeters thick. The short-lived leaves are 2 millimeters in size and leave round scars on the shoot after the leaf falls. The very small stipules are glandular.
The male cyathia are in clusters at the tip of the shoots, where they form cymes which are bifurcated one to two times . The female cyathia are single. The reddish cyathia reach 2 millimeters in diameter and are almost sedentary. The nectar glands are colored yellow. The bluntly lobed fruit grows to a size of 7 millimeters and stands on an only slightly protruding stem. It contains the almost spherical seed, which reaches 2 millimeters in diameter.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia cedrorum is only known from culture. It is believed to be spread in the southwest of Madagascar . The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered endangered (Vulnerable).
The species was first described in 1993 by Werner Rauh and René Hebding .
