Wolfgang Amling , latinized Wolfgangus Amlingus , (born July 14, 1569 in Zerbst ; † July 8, 1613 ibid) was a German lawyer .

Life

He was the son of the Reformed theologian and confessionalist in the Principality of Anhalt, Wolfgang Amling , (born March 8, 1542 in Münnerstadt; † May 18, 1606 in Zerbst) and his wife Dorothea, nee Krebs. After attending school in Zerbst, he studied law at the Universities of Wittenberg, Heidelberg and Basel and obtained his doctorate in both rights in Basel in 1598. As such, he became Professor Juris at the Princely High School in Zerbst in 1602 and in 1612 he was confirmed as a syndic of the city police in Zerbst. He died shortly before his 44th birthday and was buried on July 12, 1613. The funeral sermon given by Magister Johann Theobold, pastor of St. Niclas in Zerbst, was published by Zacharias Dörffer.

In 1599, Wolfgang Ameling married Gertrude, born in Heidelberg, daughter of the mayor Reinhard Ofen from Leipzig . He moved to Zerbst with her and had six children.
