Euphorbia complexa is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia complexa forms shrubs up to 40 centimeters in height. These branch out from the base with close-up square shoots. The up to 1 centimeter thick shoots are provided with bulged teeth on the edges. The elongated thorn shields stand individually. Thorns up to 5 millimeters and secondary leaf thorns up to 2.5 millimeters in length are formed.

The inflorescence consists of single and simple cymes or of four almost sedentary cyathia that stand on the side. The cyathia reach about 5 millimeters in diameter. The elongated nectar glands are cloudy yellow in color and are a tiny distance apart. The ovary is almost sessile. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia complexa is widespread in clearings in forest areas in the South African province of Mpumalanga .

The species was first described in 1937 by Robert Allen Dyer .
