Euphorbia congestiflora is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia congestiflora forms shrubs up to about 1.2 meters high, which branch out from the base. Only a few secondary branches are formed. The whip-like shoots lignify and are very thin. They are up to 3.5 millimeters thick and have very fine vertical lines. Glandular stipules are formed on both sides of the leaf scars.
The inflorescence consists of cymes that appear in sessile umbels or clusters. The cyathia reach up to 6 millimeters in diameter. The elliptical nectar glands are greenish in color and stand individually. The clearly lobed fruit is about 9 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. It stands on a stalk up to 8 millimeters long and contains the egg-shaped seeds. These are indistinctly square and about 4.5 millimeters long and 2.5 millimeters wide. The seed surface is smooth and there is an appendage .
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia congestiflora is common in southern Angola .
The species was first described in 1970 by Leslie Charles Leach . A synonyms for this type is Tirucallia congestiflora (LCLeach) PVHeath (1996).
