Euphorbia croizatii is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia croizatii grows as a shrub with spread and somewhat thick shoots up to 75 centimeters in height. The obovate leaves are almost sessile, covered with brown hair and are up to 10 millimeters long and 6 millimeters wide. The stipule spines, which are up to 1 centimeter long, are somewhat thickened at the base and two shorter spines are arranged directly below. They are about 2 centimeters apart and stand in five spiral rows on the shoot.
The four- to five-fold bifurcated cymes stand on stems up to 15 millimeters long and are covered with downy hairs. The spread and rounded cyathophylls are up to 8 millimeters wide and 9 millimeters long. They are covered with hair, dyed green and provided with purple stripes. The almost sedentary cyathia reach 2 millimeters in diameter. The nectar glands have two lips and the perched ovary is provided with hair.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia croizatii is endemic to the southwest of Madagascar on limestone cliffs.
The species was first described in 1946 by Jacques Désiré Leandri .
