Les Eurockéennes de Belfort is one of the largest rock music festivals in France . It takes place every year at the beginning of July on three days, for the 25th anniversary in 2013 it lasted four days as an exception. The festival takes place on a peninsula on Lac du Malsaucy , a lake in the area of the municipality of Sermamagny northwest of Belfort in eastern France, near the border with Switzerland and Germany.

The festival was founded in 1989 on the initiative of the Conseil général du Territoire de Belfort . Originally, a site was planned at the nearby Alsace Belchen (Ballon d'Alsace), which is why the event was initially called Le Ballon - Territoire de Musique . Since the peninsula on the lake turned out to be more suitable, it was relocated and renamed there in the following year.

The area is divided into different sub-zones, so that several bands appear at the same time on different sized stages. A few kilometers away there is a campsite with around 15,000 spaces, from which shuttle buses are used to the festival site.

While around 10,000 visitors came in the first year, by 1993 it was already 70,000. In 2006 and 2008, around 100,000 participants each traveled, and in 2013, according to the organizers, 127,000.
