Euroopera
Polskie Stowarzyszenie EUROOPERA (German: Polish Association EUROOPERA) was a non-governmental organization that worked on the German-Polish border in Zgorzelec and Görlitz . The seat was the Jakob-Böhme -Haus in the Neisse suburb.
The founding of the association goes back to Wolf-Dieter Ludwig, director of the music theater in Görlitz. He wanted to set up a philharmonic orchestra that would connect the Polish and German banks of the Neisse. At the same time, the building should be a bridge between the two cities, which are divided by the Lusatian Neisse and the national border. However, due to formal difficulties, the project could not be implemented.
The focus of a new project was a cultural center around the Jakob-Böhme-Haus on the Polish side of the European city . The main goal was to save the old town in Zgorzelec. Groups were formed on both sides of the border and began preparing the project in 1994. The idea ultimately remained unrealized. However, an association was formed by the citizens. The association mainly supports culture, science and healthy living in Zgorzelec and the surrounding area.
The association's work included:
- Renovation of the Jakob Böhme House
- Establishment of the Jakob Böhme memorial room
- Construction of the WAZE bas-relief on the three-wheel mill in Zgorzelec
- Reconstruction of the distance column of the Polish-Saxon post
- Founding a publishing house
- Organization of exhibitions, meetings, lectures.
