The European Civil Aviation Conference , English European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), French Conférence Européenne de l'Aviation Civile (CEAC) based in Neuilly-sur-Seine was founded in 1955 with the aim of making aviation in Europe safer and the to harmonize the relevant legislation of the member states. The ECAC is an independent, regional sub-organization of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) , with whose European regional office it shares an office building. While the ICAO speakers in Paris are concerned with (technical) aviation safety , the ECAC provides experts for aviation safety , audits and environmental protection .

The ECAC uses English and French as working languages.

In addition to the European Commission and Eurocontrol , the ECAC has 44 member states. The dissolved Joint Aviation Authorities were also associate members of ECAC. After this has been completed, the JAA-TO training organization remains an associated ECAC member.

Efforts are being made to transfer the competences of the ECAC to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which, due to European law, has so far only been responsible for aviation safety.
