European Timetable Center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Timetable Center (EFZ) is a Europe-wide coordination center for timetable data from railway companies.

description

The European Timetable Center started its service in 2001. The DB subsidiary Transport-, Informatik- und Logistik-Consulting GmbH ( DB Systel ) won the tender for the operation of this center. It was initially supplied with data from 80 different suppliers and initially had 5 employees. In addition to TLC, the companies Hacon, SLT and Gikom were involved in the construction. On January 1, 2002, TLC became part of DB Systel . In addition to this company, DB Vertrieb GmbH is also involved in the European timetable center.

In 2009 1,800 individual timetables, 52,000 stops and data deliveries from 28 European railways were processed. Two years later, in 2011, the EFZ was supplied with timetable data by 30 railway companies and around 100 German public transport companies.

In Germany, the RIS server ( Traveler Information System Server ) forms the interface between the European timetable center and the information systems of the transport companies. For the delivery of the input data from Germany, the schedule software was designed accordingly in order to prepare the data for the EFZ.
