Kurt Guss (born November 14, 1943 in Sondershausen ) is a German Gestalt theorist and scholar with academic qualifications in psychology, sociology, philosophy, education and law.

Life

Kurt Guss was born as the son of the teacher Kurt Guss and his wife Gisela Guss, b. Wichmann born. He studied philosophy, psychology, psychopathology, physiology, human genetics, sociology, education and law at the universities of Münster, Dortmund, Heidelberg and Giessen. After receiving his diploma in psychology (1968) from the University of Münster and the first state examination for teaching qualifications (1970), Wolfgang Metzger received his doctorate in 1972 . This was followed by the habilitation in psychology at the University of Duisburg (1981), the appointment as professor for psychology and sociology at the Federal University for Public Administration in Mannheim (1983), the doctorate in educational science at the University of Dortmund (1988) and the doctorate in law at the University of Giessen (2002).

Guss worked as a professor at the University of Duisburg, at the Federal University for Public Administration in Mannheim and at the State Nekrasov University in Kostroma (Russia). He is President of the Ostwestfalen Academy, which, among other things, organizes seminars and has its own publishing house. Kurt Guss is founding president of the international society for Gestalt theory and its applications (GTA), for which he was able to win his teacher Wolfgang Metzger as honorary president and Manès Sperber as an honorary member. He is the consulting editor of the international multidisciplinary journal Gestalt Theory .
