The State University Nikolay Nekrasov Kostroma ( Russian Костромской государственный университет имени Н. А. Некрасова Kostromskoi gossudarstwennyj uniwersitet imeni NA Nekrassowa ) is an approximately 7000 students scoring university in the Russian city of Kostroma . Most of the university facilities are located on the central campus in the old town of Kostroma near the Volga promenade .

history

The university was founded in November 1918 as a workers' and peasants university with the original aim of providing the poorer sections of the population with higher education after the October Revolution without having to pay money or pass entrance exams. In 1921, however, the university had to be dissolved again due to economic hardship in the civil war .

In 1939 another attempt was made to establish a university in Kostroma with the establishment of a pedagogical university. In 1946 the school was named after the poet Nekrasov , who also worked in the Kostroma area, and from 1949 the college was officially called the Pedagogical Nekrasov Institute in Kostroma . The institute's high point of development was in the 1960s to 1980s, when it was expanded to include new faculties and later also branches in other cities ( Sharia , Kirovsk ). In 2001 the Institute for Economics was founded and has since produced numerous graduates. It cooperates closely with the German FOM University of Economics and Management.

The university received its full university status and its current name on January 5, 1999.

In September 2011 the International Center for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (ICCPP) was opened at the University's Pedagogical and Psychological Institute .
