European Environment Bureau

The European Environmental Bureau (EEB) is a non-governmental organization that was founded in Brussels in 1974. It is an umbrella organization of over 140 environmental organizations from all over Europe . It is committed to the goal of protecting and improving the environment in Europe. It gives citizens the opportunity to participate in environmental decision-making processes at EU level .

The EEB is a "bridgehead" that allows the member associations to participate in environmental policy decision-making processes in Brussels . To this end, it operates an information service, organizes various working groups, and develops position papers on current environmental policy issues and on topics that should be given greater attention at EU level. It represents its member associations at the European Commission , the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union ; it also supports and accompanies the activities of member associations on European environmental issues at national level .

The activities of the EEB are divided into different subject areas; it belongs to the Green 10 ( "The Green 10"), a coalition of ten leading active at EU level non-governmental - environmental organizations .
